SWEET SECRET "Dame Chocolate"
Rosita Amado is an adorable, bright, and caring young woman with an unbounded love for nature's plants and animals alike. Yet as with everything in life, she is not completely perfect. Truth be told, looks are definitely not our sweet, loving Rosita's strongpoint. She has a beautiful figure but her face could scare away even the kindest and bravest of men.
Our story begins when Rosita and her cousin Azucena return to the small town of Chinches Bravas after several years away from home while attending Catholic school. Angel, the manager of the town's most important factory, glimpses Rosita's fully nude figure while she is swimming in the lake and he can't believe that the ugly girl he remembers has grown up to become this woman with a gorgeous body. Then and there Angel decides that Rosita will someday be his.
Additionally, we have the story of Juan Amado, Rosita's maternal grandfather. Fleeing from the pain of loosing his daughter, Rosita's mother, he left his hometown to move to the United States. There, he began working as a gardener at the mansion of Ann Remington, a wealthy artist and widow. They eventually fell in love and got married. Thanks to Juan's knowledge of the technical and magical processes of chocolate-making, he started a business that saved the Remington family from bankruptcy.
When Ann died, Juan inherited the family fortune and became the guardian of a daughter from Ann's previous marriage: Grace Remington. Grace always hated her stepfather and married at a very young age to be away from Juan. However, her marriage collapsed, leaving her mother to a small child named Bruce and dependent on her stepfather for support.
On the same day that Rosita leaves Catholic school to return home, Juan Amado in the United States makes a very important decision. He feels death is tapping on his shoulder and decides to travel back to Rosita's town because he feels that she's the only person whom destiny has appointed to learn the liturgy of making chocolate. Bruce goes along with him because he and his mother want to convince Juan to give them the secret chocolate recipe. If Juan were to die without passing the recipe on to them, the family's chocolate factory would go bankrupt. At this point, Rosita meets Bruce and is astonished by how attractive and masculine he is. Bruce, however, is at first repulsed by Rosita's ugliness.
Juan Amado makes the most of his short stay at Chinches Bravas to teach his granddaughter everything he knows about the secrets of chocolate-making. As he teaches her, he also talks to her about the future and the responsibilities she will have when he dies. Meanwhile, Bruce, despite his initial lack of attraction to Rosita, begins to recognize her inner beauty. Angel, who had previously set his sights on Rosita, realizes how attracted she feels towards Bruce and decides to confront his new rival.
Try as he might, Bruce cannot convince Juan to tell him the secret chocolate recipe. When they return to the United States, Juan dies. Bruce tells Rosita about her grandfather's death and also that she has been named as one of the primary beneficiaries in his will.
Bruce and Grace convince Rosita to move to the United States because she's the only one who knows the secret recipe. She decides to go with her entire family including her grandmother Dulce, her uncle Diosdado, her aunt Hortensia and her cousin Azucena. When they arrive at the Remington mansion, Rosita is already madly in love with Bruce, and she suffers when suspecting that he is having an affair the chocolate factory's PR executive: Samantha Porter. When Angel finds out that Rosita is heir to a great fortune, he decides to pursue her to the United States in order to satisfy his sexual desire for her and find a way to take possession of her newly acquired fortune.
At this point, Grace manipulates Buce and convinces him to steal the secret recipe from Rosita. Despite feelings of guilt, Bruce begins a false game of courtship and seduction with Rosita, as Grace's plan develops. Rosita dreams of marrying Bruce, who seduces and sleeps with her in his eagerness to steal her secret. Succumbing to his charms, she not only gives him her body but also her grandfather's secret recipe. After his romantic encounter with Rosita, Bruce is completely overwhelmed; with her he felt a special connection unlike anything he had previously experienced. Something about Rosita drives him wild.
When Samantha and Angel find out that Bruce and Rosita have slept together they are outraged. But things soon return to normal when Grace and Bruce kick the Amando family out of the mansion, after having obtained the secret chocolate recipe. Rosita feels humiliated at being manipulated by Grace, but is far more hurt by Bruce's deceit.
With her heart broken, Rosita and her family reach out to Angel for help. At Angels insistence, Rosita signs up for a reality show about makeovers. In the meantime, Bruce looks everywhere for Rosita, but he cannot find her. While participating in the reality show, Rosita undergoes plastic surgery and her face is completely transformed. Her transformation allows her to adopt an entirely new identity including a name-change. From now on, she will be known as Violeta. When she finds out that Samantha and Bruce plan to marry, she decides to go back home, where another 'Gift' from the Mayan God Ek Chuah awaits: the secret of a new chocolate recipe. With her new formula, Rosita starts a new chocolate factory called 'Dame chocolate' - 'Sweet secret' - that is a huge success and becomes the strongest competitor to the Remington factory.
Bruce visits the new factory and is captivated by Violeta's beauty, not knowing that she is actually Rosita. Violeta tries to avoid Bruce but he insists on approaching her; given their history, Violeta is torn between love and hate for him. She will have to choose between two possibilities: taking revenge on Bruce and his manipulative mother Grace or forgiving him and taking a chance at love.
