This is the story of Angel, a young man who never met his father and was raised torn between his mother's love and the wild streets of his New York neighborhood. Despite being kind and enormously talented, his circumstances lead him to become an expert thief. When his best friend is murdered, Angel swears he will take revenge against Martin, the head of powerful criminal network. He never imagines the man he hates with all his might is his own father. This is the beginning of an exciting story that gets more complex when Angel falls in love with Manuela, his attorney, and the only person who has lent him a hand. As it turns out, she is engaged to the man he has shown to destroy.
Angel Salvador , the 'Devil' of Queens, is an intelligent, clever young man who has earned the admiration and respect of his neighborhood and of thieves he belongs to. Angel agrees to be part of the gang ' Latas' because he wants to do whatever he needs to in order to help his mother, who has very little resources to support his family. 'Iron' is the head of the gang and the brains behind all their jobs. He is a man with no scruples who leads a double life: in the streets he is the head of 'Latas, ' and in front of society he is Martin Acero, a well-known businessman who heads one of the companies that belongs to the conglomerate owned by his father-in-law, Anibal Davila. What no one knows, including him ,is that years ago he had a son , who in a twist of fate is now part of his gang of thieves.
Esperanza met Martin Acero when she was very young and worked as a maid in the home of the Acero family. They secretly had a love affair and Esperanza became pregnant with a son Martin didn't want , because a child would wreck his plans of having a brilliant future abroad. To protect her son, Graciela de Acero insists on Esperanza to have an abortion; but Esperanza escapes and travels to the United States in search of Martin. Nine months pregnant; armed with a small suitcase and meager savings, she ventures into New York looking for her lost love. Upon her arrival yo The Big Apple she becomes a victim of a robbery that leaves her helpless. Angel's birth surprises her in the middle of a subway where she meets Sandro Beltran, who feels sorry for her, helps bring her son to this world and becomes her guardian angel. Esperanza never finds Martin, but she has Angel, who gives her the strength necessary to move on.
Manuela Davila is the second most important woman in Angel's destiny. As the attorney assigned by the government to his case, Manuela reduces Angel's sentence on the condition that he changes his life's path. This intelligent, hard-working woman is Martin Acero's fiancee. For years, she's lived behind a smoke curtain created by her boyfriend, never imagining the dark past he hides behind it. Angel will come into her life and unsettle this relationship, which is on the verge of going a step further. The love story that surges between Angel and Manuela will inevitably confront them with Martin Acero's evil doings.
Angel's departure from prison, and his reconnection with the world he's always belonged to, marks the beginning of this story that reflects the reality of thousands of young people. Young people who, like Angel, fight for a better future, sorting through the obstacles placed in their way by a society where they sometimes have to play for two teams: Good and Evil.
