Distribution / Foreign series / "The last courier" THE LAST COURIER
Did Bernhard really die in a car accident in Moscow? His wife Vera is summoned to the Russian capital to identify the body, but what's left of it could be that of anyone... Vera is not alone for long in Moscow. Among the various men trailing her, threatening her, watching her every move. the tight-lipped Inspector Bubka is, at least, the most communicative. Like Vera. Bubka also suspects Bernhard is not really dead. Like Vera, he wants Bernhard alive - but not for the same reasons. Bernhard, an art dealer with excellent contacts in the upper echelons of the Russian government, is wanted for the rape and murder of an eleven-year-old girt. Though repulsed by Bubka's suspicions, Vera feels strongly attracted to the taciturn inspector. Bernhard, meanwhile, is alive and well and enjoying the protection of mighty patrons in Moscow and Germany. Bubka is removed from the case, and Vera and Bernhard are reunited. Vera. however, becomes more and more convinced that Bernhard has long been leading a double life - as a criminal, and now as a murderer. When Bubka suddenly appears in Germany to finish his job, it is Vera who helps him bring the case to an end. A truly ex-ceptional television drama, "The Last Courier" has garnered several awards, including five Adolf Grimme Prizes (Germany's most prestigious television award), the Critics' Prize of the Monte Carlo TV Festival and others.
